The most awkward part of any blog! I’ve delayed this section for way too long but I have to do this to give some context to the readers who do not know me.
Here’s what you need to know about me. My name is Waleed Ali Khan and I am an undergraduate Business (Global Systems Minor) student and Carnegie Mellon’s branch campus in Qatar. I have lived about half my life in Pakistan (I’m a Lahori!) and the other half of my life in Germany, India and now Qatar.
I am an extreme introvert and most people claim that I have ADHD. I have trouble sitting/standing still and you’ll find me pacing around most of them time. I’m very confused about what I want to do with my life and I have suffered greatly because of that. I’ve been trying a million things, but I tend to lose interest in them very quickly. There are just two interests of mine that I believe will stick with me forever – the first is running (people tend to get creeped out when I run around campus at 3 a.m. if i can’t sleep) and the other is writing (blogging every Friday morning with a cup of coffee is the highlight of me week).
Now going back to being confused. It has been a source of various setbacks in my life, and I would admit that I used to get depressed over my lack of decision making ability very easily. I was pursuing a career that I hated for two years (medicine) but I think I’ve finally decided what I want to study. My career is still undecided, but it should definitely involve writing, perhaps coupled with science and technology.
THE BLOG
Purpose
The purpose of this blog is to allow my audience and myself to stake a step back to see whether our lives still have meaning. I think we all get caught up in our day to day duties that we forget that we are human, and that we all have certain non-vocational goals to achieve. In effect, the blog looks at the purpose and quality of one’s life. Thinking about one’s existence can lead to either enlightening or dark thoughts, and this blog aims to explore both. Being human, I have both at different points of my life, and hence writing a blog gives me the perfect platform to do both.
Audience:
Everyone who doesn’t have his or her life figured out. In other words, everyone
